Family History

What makes you who you are?
Have you ever thought about finding who your ancestors were?
Would they have been well-off or in the workhouse?
Were they magistrates or lawbreakers?
Is there someone famous (or infamous) in your tree?
Will treasures be found, skeletons in cupboards, or secrets discovered?

Why not join the FAMILY HISTORY GROUP and find out lots of interesting information about your family tree?  There are members who will help you through the details of births, marriages and deaths; parish records; the census and other registers; electoral rolls; maps; wills and probate; military records; old photographs, postcards and newspapers.

Meetings include presentations and live research sessions covering a wide range of subjects of interest to beginners and the more experienced.  Family history is more than just drawing up a family tree.  If you find that an ancestor worked in a certain trade, or lived in a certain place you will want to know about it, and extend your interest into social history.

We meet on the third Friday of the month (except December) from 10.00 to 12.00 at the Tower Hill Methodist Church Hall.

New members are warmly welcomed - but be warned
researching your family tree can be highly addictive!

If you are interested, or if you wish to discuss anything call the Group Leader, Paul on 01482 355822.
